ESB EV Solutions announces EV charging price change for use of its rapid public charging network from 20th November

20th October, 2020

ESB EV Solutions has today (Tuesday, 20th October) announced that it will be making changes to its price plans from 20th November. As part of this change, the monthly subscription for members will increase from £4.00 to £4.99 across the network and the per kWh rate on its rapid charging network in London will be increasing. This will enable ESB EV Solutions to continue to expand the rapid charging network in London, and to provide additional chargers at key locations across the city. The per kWh rates for the rapid chargers in Coventry will remain unchanged.

The new pricing structure can be summarised as follows:

Taxi

For all customers on a taxi package, the per kWh rate across all ESB EV Solutions chargers in London* will increase from 25p to 28p. The per kWh rate will remain 25p in Coventry. The monthly subscription will be removed entirely for all new and existing customers. This will result in a saving of £4 per month vs the current rates, meaning the longer you stay with us, the more you save. There will also continue to be no connection fee or minimum charge at any of our locations. Those on the taxi package still benefit from the following:

  • A free charge point access card for new customers
  • Lower rate compared to PAYG plan
  • 24/7 customer care support

Membership

For all customers on the membership package, the monthly subscription will increase from £4.00 to £4.99 and the per kWh rate across all chargers in London* will increase from 25p to 28p. The per kWh rate will remain 25p in Coventry. There will continue to be no connection fee or minimum charge. This plan is recommended for drivers who use the ESB EV Solutions charging network more regularly and offers great value the more the network is used. Customers can enjoy savings vs PAYG as early as the 4th charge per month.** Members still benefit from the following:

  • A free charge point access card for new customers
  • Lower rate compared to PAYG plan
  • 24/7 customer care support
** based on Tesla 3 consumption data

PAYG

For customers using the PAYG option, the per kWh rate across all chargers in London* will increase from 29p to 30p when using the EV Plug In app or the ESB EV Solutions charge point access card. The per kWh rate will remain 29p in Coventry.

Contactless

With contactless payment now available on most of our chargers across London, the new rate of 30p/kWh will apply for contactless payment and a 50p connection fee will be applicable.* There will continue to be no connection fee in Coventry and the per kWh rate will remain 29p per kWh.

Niall Hogan, Head of ESB EV Solutions said, “At ESB EV Solutions, we always try to offer our customers very competitive rates and try to keep our price plans simple and easy to understand. Our rates have remained the same since we entered the market in March 2018. Due to an increase in costs associated with expanding our network, we must increase our rates from 20th November. This will be done on a phased basis over the coming months. We are confident that we still offer great value to EV drivers in London who use our network of nearly 100 rapid chargers in key locations throughout the city.”
